This awesome picture by @cvillepeopleeveryday shows the optical illusion and challenge of my most recent Harriet Tubman piece, that sits where the Robert E. Lee statue once stood. Because the vantage point of the viewer would be from the ground, I had to make the face completely out of proportion, and with only grass! It was quite the challenge, as seen from all the failed grass pieces🤣 but very cool to see it has nearly 1 million views on Reddit!

10 years ago, on this dead patch of grass sat the Robert E. Lee statue that sparked the violence in my hometown of Charlottesville. This morning, for Juneteenth, I created Harriet Tubman in its place, using only grass. Heroes live on. Big shout out to @mamacelle for the help!

A year and a half ago I turned this stump into the first tree memorial at @hollywoodcem I just came back this week to see all the mementos! We’ve cared for the trees there for over 30 years and this was the first time I got to combine Arboristry with art. The tree itself had quite the story and judging by the publicity it received after its death, I guess even an old, dead stump can still provide meaning.

Yesterday I went back to touch up my 3 murals at @theellarva where every mural uses the building to bring the music to life. The ladies are back to singing.

Beyond pumped to share my wife @corrycraighill just won best wine in Virginia last night! The Governors Cup is like the Oscars of Virginia wine by @vawine with around 800 submissions. Corry’s cab franc wine for @valleyroadwines won the whole thing! She is still the winemaker at @septenarywinery but she also makes the wine for Valley Road. She also has a side project too which you should follow if you’re still reading this @woundtightwine and I heard their labels are sick. This is the first time I’ve ever posted a non design post so @corrycraighill don’t get used to it!
